International schools in Singapore are a key option for expatriate families and globally minded parents seeking internationally recognised curricula such as the British, IB, or Cambridge systems. With Singapore’s strong reputation as an education hub, these schools offer pathways to global universities and a multicultural learning environment. However, choosing the right international school can be challenging due to differences in curriculum, tuition fees, facilities, teaching quality, and overall student experience. Some schools focus on premium facilities and extensive extracurriculars, while others prioritise academic outcomes and affordability. This guide evaluates international schools based on curriculum quality, academic performance, affordability, facilities, and parent feedback. The aim is to help families identify schools that align with their educational goals, budget, and expectations for a well-rounded international education in Singapore.

Knightsbridge House International School is a relatively new but rapidly growing international school in Singapore, established in 2021 and offering a full Cambridge education pathway from primary through A-Levels. The school positions itself as one of the most affordable Cambridge-accredited international schools in Singapore, with annual tuition fees significantly lower than many competitors.
A key strength of the school lies in its strong academic performance, particularly in Cambridge assessments such as MidYIS and Checkpoint exams, where students have achieved above-global-average results. The curriculum is structured around the Cambridge framework, providing a clear and globally recognised pathway for students aiming for international universities.
Unlike premium international schools that emphasise large campuses and extensive facilities, Knightsbridge House focuses on teaching quality and academic outcomes while maintaining lower fees. This makes it especially suitable for families seeking value-driven international education without compromising academic standards. The school also supports holistic development through extracurricular activities including sports, arts, and technology programmes.

In January 2027, Astor will open its brand-new Bukit Timah campus and expand into secondary education, creating a broader educational pathway for families within the Astor community.
The new campus will bring together Astor International Preschool, welcoming children from 18 months to 6 years, and Astor International School, serving students aged 5 to 14 in Years 1–9. Over the following two years, Astor plans to continue expanding into the upper secondary and high school years, allowing students to remain within the Astor community throughout their school journey.
At the new Bukit Timah campus, Astor will introduce the Australian Curriculum, supplemented by the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). This combination will provide students with a strong and structured academic foundation while retaining the enquiry-based, interdisciplinary and internationally minded learning that has always been central to the Astor approach.
Teaching will continue to emphasise hands-on learning, curiosity, critical thinking, creativity and problem-solving. Astor’s deliberately small-school model will also remain at the heart of the new campus, with small class sizes enabling teachers to know each student well and provide meaningful individual attention.
The new campus will offer an expanded learning environment and greater opportunities for academics, enrichment, sports, arts, languages and community activities, while preserving the warm, personal atmosphere that distinguishes Astor from larger international schools.
Astor is home to a diverse international community representing more than 30 nationalities and offers families flexibility in how they structure their children’s school experience. Alongside the core academic programme, students can participate in enrichment opportunities across areas such as art, music, sports, drama and languages.
The opening of the Bukit Timah campus represents an important milestone in Astor’s development: from a boutique primary school into a complete international education pathway from preschool through secondary and, ultimately, high school—while remaining true to the small classes, personalised attention and strong sense of community on which Astor was founded.
PROS
- More affordable than many international-school alternatives in Singapore
- Small class sizes and personalised attention
- International Primary Curriculum combined with Singapore Maths and British English
- Multicultural student community with 30+ nationalities
- Recognised in 2025 as a Gold Winner for Best Affordable International School and Best Small School in Singapore
CONS
- Primarily focused on primary education, serving Years 1–7 rather than offering a full secondary-to-A-Level pathway
What to know before booking
- Best suited for families looking for an affordable, small-scale international primary school with personalised teaching
- The school accepts students from age 5 through Year 7 and aims to prepare them for progression to international schools in Singapore or overseas
- Compare the Flexi and Fixed Fee structures carefully, especially if your child will regularly attend enrichment classes
Customer Review
“I can highly recommend this school. My daughters have been attending Astor the last two years and they have been very happy.” The reviewer also highlighted the school’s small student-teacher ratio, supportive staff and boutique-school environment.
